The annealing point for brass starts at 300F-350F (~180C) and it takes days at that temp to anneal the brass. 600F takes an hour or so, 650 takes a few minutes, 850 takes seconds, 900 trashes it, period.

May 24, 2016 · Pour drained brass out of beaker onto towel to remove most of the water. Back into the beaker and cover with alcohol. Shake a little to mix. Let sit for a minute. May 12, 2022 · Re: Drying Brass In Oven? I clean my brass in a tumbler with stainless media, water and soap. After rinsing the soap off I drain and spread out on a cookie sheet. Place cookie sheet in preheated oven @ 220 degrees for 5 minutes. No harm to the brass and all is very dry.

Jun 01, 2022 · I do hope you preheat the oven before placing the brass in to dry. If you don't preheat first, that oven gets a lot hotter than the posted temperature. it'll go full bore heating to get it to the selected temperature and could very well over anneal the brass, ruining it.

I put my cases in a Pyrex dish at 180F for a couple hours. I think the lower temp may reduce oxidation and make the brass brighter colored.

A drying rack is fine if the weather is warm, but even under ideal conditions it may take a couple of days for the cases to be completely dry.
